Germology is an innovative workshop that focuses on Scrubology (the art of hand-washing) and Bacteriology (the story of Germs).
Throughout these workshops, children will better understand that germs
are all around us, are recognized by unique names and shapes, and can
be helpful or harmful. During with this lesson, children will also
engage in powerful experiments and hands on activities, illustrating
the importance of adopting proper hand washing techniques.
This “Germology” workshop is perfect for addressing both “Flu Season” concerns and general hygiene to children of all ages.
Experience the Animal Kingdom through our exciting and interactive “Bugology” workshop. We begin with a lively discussion of the ecological importance of insects and other animals in our environment, followed by individual introductions to our menagerie of live native and non-native animals.
During our discussion, we explore the ecological importance of land/sea animals, their habitats, behaviour, and physiology using various specimens, artifacts and scientific tools. The concepts of the food chain and decomposition are introduced, and the children are then invited to intimately interact with the animals using their senses while sharing their new found experiences.
Some of our special guests include, Insects (Hissing Cockroaches, stick Insects, Grasshoppers, etc.), Reptiles (Snakes and Lizards), Arachnids (Scorpions and Tarantulas), Amphibians (Frogs/Toads, Salamanders etc.), Crustaceans (Hermit Crabs, Moon Crabs etc.) and other Invertebrates (African Giant Millipedes, Centipedes etc).
This “Bugology” workshop is a great way to address both respect for all animals big or small and the growing ecological/environmental issues.

Worms play a vital role in our ecosystem they break down organic matter creating valuable nutrients necessary for rich fertile soil, supporting healthy plant growth.
‘Wormology’ explores the various species of ‘worms’ along with their Ecology, morphology and important contribution to our world.
Our hands on demonstrations and discussions show where these different species of worms are found, how they live, and how some, like earthworms are able to breathe and eat surrounded by dirt.
Children will have the opportunity to interact with these squirmy, squishy, wiggly creatures, learn why some are known as the ‘underground farmers of the earth’ and others as ‘blood suckers’.
Children will begin to understand the important role worms play not only in our environment but also in our daily lives through medicine, diet and plain fun.
This ‘Wormology’ workshop is a great way to both explain and address the environmental issue of composting, as well as, the subject of living things.

interactions between organisms and their natural environment”.
This workshop illustrates “Ecology” as the
relationship between living things to each other and to what is around
them, their environment.
What better way to understand the different relationships between:
Animals and plants
Animals/plants and the climate i.e. sun,
Animals/plants and the air,
Animals/plants and rocks, etc.
We begin by introducing children to the world biomes, the food chain,
decomposition, recycling/re-using, pollution, endangered/extinct
species, and the 2008 Amphibian crisis. Every new concept is
illustrated by live and preserved animal specimens, in which case the
children will have the opportunity to touch and hold.
Specimens include: Various species of Earthworms
responsible for decomposition, Scorpions and Spiders to illustrate the
different biomes, and Amphibian species, Frogs, Toads, Salamanders and
Newts to address the 2008 Amphibian crisis plus more.
This Ecology workshop is a great way to introduce or
expand children’s knowledge of how every-one and every-thing in our
planet is interconnected.
Our exciting and interactive "Earth Week" presentation celebrates life on planet Earth and allows for the appreciation of everything Earth has to offer, from nature, wildlife, food, water, land and so much more.
This workshop not only celebrates planet Earth but also addresses current environmental issues, such as climate change, global warming, deforestation, pollution, the advantages and benefits of going green, and ultimately, how to repair and conserve our environment for future generations.
During this lively presentation, our scientists will focus on how environmental issues impact on the Animal Kingdom. We will use a variety of tools such as exotic live insects and other animals, preserved animals, a projector slide show with lots of great images and a live camera feed to show Insects up close, a touch table and much more.
Each year, the "Earth Week" presentation will vary in content to address current global environmental issues, however, it will always have a focus on how humans impact the lives of animals, as we will show live animals and address habitat loss.

This presentation is offered to students in Grade 3-8.
You may book multiple sessions in one day, but we ask that you keep the number of students close in Grade level.

School Workshop Requirements
A space for the children to sit on the floor/carpet
If you have booked two or more presentations, a classroom or library (a warm room) is required in order for the set-up to be done once, having the children rotate through that location.
If possible, we ask that the room we are presenting in is located on the main floor, as we have many materials to bring in.
A few tables in the room to set up the animals, posters, and other props.
Parking close to the event, so the presenter has ease unpacking and re-packing materials. As well, student volunteers if available.
A schedule of the day emailed prior to the presentation date, including grade level of children, number of children in each presentation, start and end times of the presentations, along with times of recess and lunch breaks.
